What Is Terma? Every Feature and Plan, Explained
Every other article on this blog talks about the problem. This one is about the tool we built to actually solve it — what it does, how it works, and exactly what each plan includes.
Most of what's on this blog works whether or not you ever open the app: notice periods and auto-renewal law don't care what tracker you use, if any. This article is the exception. If you've read this far and you're wondering what Terma actually is — not the problem it solves, but the product itself — here's the honest, complete answer.
The core idea: point your camera at it, not a bank account
Terma tracks three kinds of things: subscriptions, contracts, and warranties — across categories from streaming and software to telecom, energy, insurance, housing, and transport. The way you add one is the part that's different from most tools in this space: you scan a receipt, a contract, or a confirmation email, and AI reads it and fills in the price, the renewal date, and the cancellation terms for you. No manual data entry, and — deliberately — no linking your bank account. Terma never asks for banking credentials or an ongoing connection to your accounts; it only ever sees the documents you choose to scan.
What it actually does once something's tracked
- Reminds you before it matters, not after. Renewals, notice-period deadlines, price increases, warranty expiry, trial ends, and promo-price endings each get their own reminder, timed with real lead time — not a same-day notice.
- Drafts the cancellation letter for you. When it's time to actually cancel something, Terma can generate the letter, not just the reminder to write one.
- Adds renewal dates to your calendar, so they sit next to everything else you're already tracking, not in a separate app you have to remember to open.
- Checks the price you're being charged against what's actually listed, catching the quiet increases this blog talks about elsewhere before they become a habit.
Free, Plus, and Pro
Terma is free to start, with two paid tiers above it. Every tier — including Free — gets the core reminder and cancellation-letter system; what changes going up is how much you can track, how many documents you can scan, and a few features aimed at people with heavier or more complex finances.
| Free | Plus | Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Items tracked | 3 | 5 | Unlimited |
| AI scans per month | 2 | 3 | 20 |
| AI model | Standard | Standard | Best available |
| Reminders & cancellation letters | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Ads | Yes, shown | None | None |
| Bank statement import | No | No | Yes |
| Sync across devices & web | No | No | Yes |
"Bank statement import" means uploading a statement file you export yourself — the same document-based model as everything else in Terma, not a live, ongoing connection to your bank account.
Plus and Pro are billed every four weeks or yearly (yearly works out to roughly 38% and 50% less respectively than paying cycle by cycle), and both come with a 3-day free trial before anything is charged. There's also a one-time Lifetime option that permanently removes ads for a single payment, separate from the Plus/Pro subscriptions, for anyone who wants Terma's core tracking without ever thinking about a recurring charge of their own.
Where it runs
Terma works on Android and on the web today, and Pro's sync keeps your data consistent across both — so a document you scan on your phone shows up on the website too, and vice versa. On Free and Plus, everything still works fully on a single device; sync specifically is what Pro adds for people moving between a phone and a computer regularly.
If any of this sounds like what you've been looking for after reading the rest of this blog, the fastest way to find out is to try it — the free tier costs nothing and takes about two minutes to add your first subscription.
